20 “But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?” Peter answered, “God’s Messiah.”
The most important question we can ponder. Who is Jesus. The answer has huge ramifications. I also find it curious that Jesus seems interested in the rumors from the crowds. I can picture myself asking that question......what kind of leader do people say I am? What is my reputation as a designer? those sorts of things. When you are acting as a leader, you don't always feel like you know the reality of how people perceive you. Obviously, Jesus already knew how the people felt about him. I'm sure that made him both happy and sad. I think he was asking the first question, in preparation for the second. He is asking his 12 if they are "all-in" yet. You've seen all this miraculous stuff.....what say you? Where is your heart?

ps. We are taking our family vacation tomorrow and next week, so I probably won't be posting. But, keep moving forward. I will catch up with the blog when I return.
Keep your roots growing in the fertile dirt!
45 But they did not understand what this meant. It was hidden from them, so that they did not grasp it, and they were afraid to ask him about it.
ReplyDeleteEven with Jesus right with them the disciples do not always understand his message. It makes me think how hard it is for us to grasp onto what Jesus might be trying to tell us about himself or what he wants me to do in life. While we don't get to listen to him speak we do have the advantage of having his words written down that we can study and the knowledge of what he did do for us in his death and resurrection. So as you said we must keep growing those roots! have a great vacation
