Proverbs 6

Go to the ant, you sluggard;
    consider its ways and be wise!
It has no commander,
    no overseer or ruler,
yet it stores its provisions in summer
    and gathers its food at harvest.

besides the obvious don't lust lesson I wasn't getting a ton from this proverb.  But something kept catching me about the ant.  It is amazing if you think about how they get after it.  They don't have a brain or at least nothing like us but they sure seem to know what they want and how to work to get it.

Maybe this fits into the idle hands are hands of the devil category.  Be like the ant, work your tail off to get ahead.  Don't wait for someone to tell you to do it, just find the work and get it done.  Its healthy to work hard.

  1. My son, keep your father’s command
    and do not forsake your mother’s teaching.
    21 Bind them always on your heart;
    fasten them around your neck.
    22 When you walk, they will guide you;
    when you sleep, they will watch over you;
    when you awake, they will speak to you.

    These couple of verses continue the line of thinking that I was talking about in conversations with my boys. We represent our families. We are closely tied to our parents. And our kids' actions are a reflection of us. I think as I go through some real challenges with my kids, these kind of verses become more important to me. To read about the "family" connection. It reminds me to not give up on this type of conversation.
