15 The simple believe anything,
but the prudent give thought to their steps.
I like this verse for a couple of reasons:
1. I think our blog is a part of us giving "thought" to this stuff.....talking it through. Raising questions when it seems strange, and searching for answers! To me, that's the power of the journey, and walking it with a partner.
2. I've talked about it before, but my young one isn't on the faith train. But, he is a deep thinker. He doesn't want to believe just because that's what we tell him. He needs more. So, this verse gives me a little hope that he can land in the second half of this verse through thought, experience, and investigation.

ReplyDeletebut the lips of the wise protect them.
I think I need this a little right now at work, things I don't agree with I may to bold to say otherwise but sometimes in a behind the back sort of way. I need to cool it.
That is a great verse to rest on, he will figure it out. When he does his faith will be stronger than most because he has thought it through harder than most are capable of doing. My memories of him reminds me of your Dad, maybe someone like that he respects that is NOT his parents will help him over time wrestle through his questions. I will pray for him. I remember wrestling with doubts because I want things to have answers I understand before I believe in them. My reality is there is so much I don't understand and never will. This life just can't be a random accident, that would take even more faith to believe in than that God created me. still doesn't answer questions though or resolve conflicts that create doubt. prayers for him and you.
