7 But the LORD said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.”
So there is nothing wrong with looking good, and in fact the scripture later says David is glowing and handsome, but this statement is a reminder that God can see right past our outward appearance and shows we may put on to impress others right to the core of our heart.
So it is best to make sure we are focused on making our heart glow for Him with healthy and honest love for Him.
I also found it interesting two references of David and tending sheep, perhaps some bible foreshadowing of who this man was and would become?
