1 Samuel 8 -knut

6 But when they said, “Give us a king to lead us,” this displeased Samuel; so he prayed to the LORD.

A bible study technique my pastor once taught me was to take note anytime you see the words but or then.  So this caught my eyes today.

When Samuel wasn't happy with how things were going the first thing he did was prayed to God to seek direction.  He didn't take his own desired action and pray to God it worked.  Good lesson pray first act second.

  1. that's a great point. think of how different the world would look if we all took that approach. I can't tell you how many times I've been reminded lately that the root of all evil is pride/selfishness........which is exactly what you're talkin about.
    good take
