This is one of my favorite segments of the bible. There's so much in here to pull from.....
there are many times in our reading so far, where the spirit of the Lord comes upon someone, and they accomplish great feats. We saw this with Samson, and we see this with David again. Its almost as if God likes them and wants them to do well. I think the key to this is an obedient heart, and a willingness to sacrifice their own desires for the sake of God's will. Every time Saul put something in surmountable in front of David (because of his own selfish fears), David succeeds (because of the power of God).......hhhhmmmmmm......I'm sensing a theme here.
I'm striving to keep God's interest at the forefront of my day! How can I have a bad day if I have God's interest at heart?
Here's the line that makes me grimace.
27 David took his men with him and went out and killed two hundred Philistines and brought back their foreskins.
"foreskins?........really......foreskins?
I like your thought God's with you = good day, even in challenging circumstances. seems a lot like v14 In everything he did he had great success, because the LORD was with him.
ReplyDelete...and yeah, seriously on the foreskins is that necessary?
