Ephesians 5

Two things stick with me;
1. Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving.
This one because, as I wrote before, I tend to like the joking....its my defense mechanism.

2. 15 Be very careful, then, how you live —not as unwise but as wise, 16 making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.
This one freightens me.  The reference to the days being evil.  That says a LOT to me.  It tells me that there is evil all around us, trying to take over everything.  So, we must be very mindful of our actions.

  1. I agree with you, most jokes are coarse to someone--not just in good fun as we might intend.

    17 Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is. 18...be filled with the Spirit, 19 speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit...

    These portions of 17-18 hit me too, further instruction to get into the bible and prayer so that we are not foolish. We can't speak to one another as instructed without doing this...another reason to keep at our chapter a day. later
