13 ...But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
Today I think of perseverance. Paul talks often talks about the lack of value of earthly things and going through suffering towards the end goal of getting closer to Jesus and this chapter is no different. Today he adds the comment forgetting what is behind, being forward looking. I don't feel I've had much suffering, certainly not like Paul but we all go through challenges of life and I need to remember to keep my eye on the prize, if I make a mistake or have a challenge press past it but don't dwell on it--persevere with Jesus in mind.
have a great day!
Agreed!
ReplyDeletestaying focussed on what's important is sometimes difficult in a world that doesn't value the same prize as I do. I find myself constantly slipping back into the worldly viewpoint.
Great take today.
