Numbers 30

13 Her husband may confirm or nullify any vow she makes or any sworn pledge to deny herself.

Well all I know is if I lived in Moses time I wouldn't be able to be married to Gina cuz this ain't happeing!  She made sure 'obey' was not in her vows and I'm pretty sure she's not relying on me to confirm or nullify any of her vows today! ha!

I can see where asking for the father's permission before proposing to you girl has a tie back to Moses day.  No sense in getting a yes from the girl if the dad is just going to deny the vow anyway as soon as he hears about it.  That is actually one thing I will forever regret, I did not talk to Gina's parents before proposing.  It didn't even enter my mind.  I will coach Luke up on that one.

have a great weekend!

  1. This really shows the value, or lack thereof, of women back in this day. Their opinion didn't matter as much. Its a shame.
It makes me wonder about our women today and their relationship to those women. Our women are almost too strong, and many times are running things. We are tending to de-masculate our boys. I think that is leading to more gender confusion. I wonder what the women of the day were like? I get a mental picture of the women being more meek and quiet.....but, who knows if that is right.

I didn't ask for permission to propose to Kim either. Her parents had both talked to me about it.....almost assuming it was coming. It still would have been a neat tradition to uphold.
