23 and anything else that can withstand fire must be put through the fire, and then it will be clean. But it must also be purified with the water of cleansing. And whatever cannot withstand fire must be put through that water.
I've used the term baptism by fire before to describe going through a tough and/or new situation before at work. I never really stopped to think how often God references fire and purification a lot throughout the bible or recognized the saying comes from the bible.
God is the unquenchable fire and he purifies all things he is exposed too--certainly baptizing by fire if we were so exposed. Fortunately Jesus came for us and we can be baptized by water in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
started to post this morning and didn't hi post before heading to work--
so its going to look like a double post tomorrow if I post before you get to it.
knut
I've used that phrase as well.
ReplyDeleteVengeance on the Midianites
31 The Lord said to Moses, 2 “Take vengeance on the Midianites for the Israelites. After that, you will be gathered to your people.”
I started right out with the first line today. I am always trying to put myself into the story, and try to think how I would react to the situation...based on the relationship that I have with God right now. After reading thru the first line, I think I might hesitate attacking the Midianites. Knowing that when the battle is done, I'm going to die. Heaven is a wonderful place, and I am excited to go there. But, the I'm also pretty comfortable in the waiting room!
