Ecclesiastes 8

14 There is something else meaningless that occurs on earth: the righteous who get what the wicked deserve, and the wicked who get what the righteous deserve. This too, I say, is meaningless.

I think there are some pretty wicked people who seem to have all their hearts desire and live long and from the outside looking in happy lives.  Then there are too many great Godly people who's lives are cut far to short, Grant Wheeler comes to mind whenever I drive in CF.

I commented to my dad one time when he was near death how this doesn't seem fair, why not have some bad dude get cancer.  It wasn't an emotional conversation just a discussion as we watched some bad stuff on the news.  He said he never thought of it that way, just was playing the cards dealt him.

I guess I really wouldn't want God to deal me the cards I've earned here on earth and certainly not the path I've earned to get to heaven.  There is no need to look around and worry about inequities here on earth, I just need to make sure my heart is right with God and be thankful for Grace.

  1. you're right on point. There really isn't anything I need to add to it....its perfect.

    But, since I'm a blatherer.
15 So, I’m all for just going ahead and having a good time—the best possible. The only earthly good men and women can look forward to is to eat and drink well and have a good time—compensation for the struggle for survival these few years God gives us on earth.

I read this and was surprised again. Is this really the Godly mantra? Its not what I've always felt......hhhmmmmmmmmmm
